The National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP) paid an advocacy visit to the Cross River Commissioner for Education, Senator (Associate Prof) Stephen Odey, yesterday (Tuesday October 15, 2024) at the Ministry of Education Headquarters, Calabar. The team was led by Dr. Godwin Ntadaom, National Coordinator, NMEP which seeks to eliminate malaria in Nigeria.
The visit aimed to inform the Education Ministry about planned programme of visiting some public schools in the State and solicit collaboration. The team further informed the Commissioner that Cross River State will host a pilot study assessing SPAQ and DHP efficacy among school-aged children, with Evidence Action’s support. The study protocol has been approved by NHREC and the State Research Ethics Committee.
The Commissioner – Associate Professor Odey, assured the team of the Ministry’s cooperation.
